the emo setlist - 012 - Totality
April 19th, 2024
Introduction - Totality 🌒
Moments, magic, music. This month a small path of North America experienced totality from a solar eclipse. I find myself constantly searching for these overwhelming, rare moments to experience something larger than ourselves. Whether it be hearing the lifesaving lyrics of a favorite song live, the disorienting moments being overwhelmed by an orchestral harmony of notes, or the minutes of eerie darkness from a solar eclipse. For me, it is a constant reminder of the grandeur of the universe and the beauty that it brings. Capturing these fleeting, powerful moments is a thrill and a reason why I love photography.
It is also a reminder of my motivation for this newsletter to provide added coverage of the time, talent, and investment that artists, creators, and photographers are sharing to the world.
Thank you for joining me again with this week’s emo setlist! 🙏🏼
Setlist
The Wax Bodega Tour - With a lineup of Arm’s Length, Carly Cosgrove, Ben Quad, and Saturdays At Your Place, this tour has all of the makings of one of those shows you look back on in 10 years and would pay anything to be a part of. If you are able to grab any remaining tickets for upcoming tour dates, it is worth it. The overall energy is contagious and is reflected amongst a passionate choir of singalongs alongside stage dives from both fans and band members. The bands appear to share a friendship amongst one another increasing the overall camaraderie where you have no choice but to like each band. LINK
Thursday releases first new song in 13 years - Thursday released their newest song, Application for Release From The Dream to widespread acclaim. The band has received coverage from The New York Times, Vulture, Alternative Press, NPR, Revolver, Pitchfork, and more. If you have not been listening to Thursday for the past 20 years, the next best time is now. LINK
Jaret Reddick (Bowling for Soup) shared a powerful duet video of the life-changing power of music. You just have to watch it. Thank you for sharing! LINK

Encore
My most played songs this week. I have listened to Thursday’s new release on repeat for hours because it is that good. When not listening to Thursday, I’ve had Arm’s Length on constant rotation as I believe they are on a fast-track trajectory of success and all they write are bangers.
Thursday - Application for Release From The Dream
Arm’s Length - Garamond
Amira Elfeky - A Dozen Roses
Sleep Theory - It’s Over
Slow Joy - Pulling Teeth
Deafheaven - Sunbather
Cece Coakley - Knob Road
Movements - Colorblind
If you've made it this far, thank you so much for supporting this endeavor!
Feel free to message me about things you liked, opportunities for improvement, and what I should do differently. See you again next week in the emo setlist!
Stay emo 🖤
